Evelia Trujillo, 60, of Emporia, Kansas passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Evelia Vega, the daughter of Bernardino and Jesusita Bedolla Vega, was born May 20, 1952 in Colonia Lazaro Cardinaz Michuacan, Mexico. She married Roberto Trujillo on Valentine’s Day, 1969 in Colonia Lazaro Cardinaz Michuacan, Mexico. He survives of the home.

Other surviving members of the family include: four sons, Nacho Vega of Edingburg, Texas, Alex Trujillo, Robert and his wife Charlie Trujillo, and Daniel and his wife Tomasa Trujillo all of Emporia; six brothers, Efrian Vega, Arturo Vega, Rigoberto Vega, Manuel Vega all of Emporia, Mike Vega of Strong City, Kansas and Moises Vega of Edingburg, Texas; three sisters, Chela Coria of Emporia, Maria Vega of Lawrence, Kansas, and Dee Luther of Louisville Texas; seven grandchildren, Jessica Trujillo, Alexia Trujillo, Izzy Trujillo, Christian Trujillo, Thalia Trujillo, Bobby Trujillo, and Telo Trujillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernardino and Jesusita Vega; and a sister, Josey Palacios.

Evelia was a homemaker and had worked at the Iowa Beef Processing Plant in Emporia from 1977 to 1983. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Emporia, with Father Ray May as the celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Catherine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
