Mrs. Florence M. Evans, 95, of Emporia, Kansas, and formerly of Americus, Kansas, died on May 29, 2011 at Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.
Florence McCullough, the daughter of Edgar and Ida A. Grieder McCullough, was born June 30, 1915 near Olpe, Kansas. She married John A. Evans on September 5, 1946 in Emporia, Kansas.
She is survived by: a son, Army Colonel (ret) Gerald T. Evans of Stafford, Virginia; two daughters, Marilyn S. Snyder of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Bernice I. Evans of Emporia; and four grandchildren, Gerald C. Evans, Nathan T. Evans, Adam C. Snyder, and Jill A. Snyder.
She is preceded in death by her husband, who died June 12, 1989, her parents, and a brother, Howard McCullough.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the former Westminster United Presbyterian Church, now Emporia Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women Group, the Afternoon Circle of Westminster Church, the 84 Social Club of Americus, Kansas, the Order of the Eastern Star in Emporia, and NARRVE.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus. Pastor Mike Sorsen of the church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia.
