Frances “Fran” Grisell, Emporia, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia. She was 82.
Frances Jacobs was born in Americus, Kansas, on July 18, 1929, the daughter of Dudley A. and Rosie (Bross) Jacobs. She married R. Dean Grisell at First Christian Church, Emporia, on April 2, 1950. Rev. Leroy Hay officiated at the ceremony. Dean survives of the home.
Other surviving family members include: her sons, Randall D. Grisell and his wife Marsha, of Garden City, Kansas, and Scotty R. Grisell and his wife Karen, of Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Sandy Berry, and her husband Jeff, of Emporia; brother, Albert E. Jacobs, Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Ada Jane Getz, Topeka, Kansas; six grandchildren, Clark Grisell, Megan Black and her husband Chuck, Michael Grisell and his wife Elizabeth, Ryan Benton, Kylee Benton, and Matthew Benton and his wife Beth; two great-granddaughters, Amira Benton and Henley Benton; and two great-grandsons on the way.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Munsell, and Doris Monroe.
Fran worked in the Lyon County Courthouse for 30 years, and served as Deputy County Treasurer. After her retirement, she and her husband Dean spent winters in Arizona. She loved to travel and spend time with family.
Cremation is planned.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, Emporia, on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM. The service will be conducted by Pastor Bob Colerick, of the church. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas.
The family will receive friends at the church before the service.
Memorials have been established with the Alzheimer and Related Disorders Association and First Christian Church, Emporia. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
