Francis S. “Franny” Baker, 68, of Emporia died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Newman Regional Health.
His funeral service will be 3:30 P.M. Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Grace United Methodist Church. Pastors Brenda Ulrich and Pastor Gene McIntosh will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hartford Cemetery with military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, VFW. Memorial donations to the Emporia Animal Shelter may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett. The family will meet with friends from 4 P.M. until 5 P.M. Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
Francis Sherman Baker, the son of William and Dorothy Shellman Baker was born January 2, 1949 in Emporia. He joined the Navy in June of 1968 until April of 1972. Francis was a Viet Nam War Veteran and served his country on the USS Forrestal. Once returning to Emporia he married Linda Harris on September 11, 1975 in Emporia. She survives of the home. He had worked for Sauder Custom Fabrication, IBP (Tyson Meats), and retired from the shipping department of Dolly Madison in 2006. He was a member of the Ball-McColm Post #5 of the American Legion.
He is also survived by, a son Dale “Boo” (Jessie) Baker of Emporia; two daughters, Kaylene (Tony) Leek of Emporia and Amy (Mark) Martin of Salina; four brothers, Kenneth Baker of Madison, Richard Baker of Swansea, South Carolina, Ross Baker and Marvin Baker both of Emporia; two sisters, Linda Hoeffler of Shawnee Mission and Betty Kellerman of Emporia; and ten grandchildren also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary White, and a son, Tony Baker.
