Frank A. McClain, 79, of Emporia, Kansas, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia.
Frank A. McClain was born August 24, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of Mack and Ethel (Finley) McClain. Frank came to Emporia in 1965. He was a trackman for the Santa Fe Railroad for 20 years until his retirement in 1997. He then owned and operated Frank’s Bar-B-Q in Emporia for five years. He was a member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Emporia.
Frank married Mary Lou Rogers in Topeka, Kansas, on August 4, 1965. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: Sons, Frank McClain, Jr. of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Mathew McClain of Eufaula, Oklahoma; stepson, Larry Dorsey of Kansas City; daughters, Beverly Hebert of Madill, Oklahoma, Juliette McClain of Del City, Oklahoma, and Fay Trimble of Tulsa, Oklahoma; stepdaughters, Ona Lissa Evans of Detroit, Michigan, Wilma Dorsey of Emporia, and Gretta Morris of Emporia; sisters, Ruth Wilson of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Ethel McJunkin of Muskogee; nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe McClain, Cleveland McClain, Mathew McClain, George McClain, Edward McClain; and sisters, Erma Jones, Addie King, and Anna Owens.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2013 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Emporia. Reverend Michael Moore of St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Emporia.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 3, 2013 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
