Fred “Ted” Brooks Kline, 91 formerly of Holiday Estates in Emporia, died on July 10, 2010 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Ted was born on April 21, 1919 in
Emporia, Kansas the son of Fred A. and Maude J. (Brooks) Kline. He married Dixie Bayless in August 5, 1951 in Emporia, Kansas. She died on November 20, 1961 in Emporia. He later married Ilda Souders on November 16, 1962 in Emporia, Kansas. She survives at the home.

Son Robert Kline of Independence, Kansas
Daughter Debra Kline of Overland Park, Kansas
Step Daughter Zoetta Waggener of El Paso, Texas
1 Step Grandson, and 2 Step Great Grandchildren.

Ted was a clerk at the Emporia Post Office for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Emporia, Served in the United States Navy, was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion, and Lowry Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the D.A.V., Barber Shop Chorus, he was Man of the Week, N.A.R.F.E. (National Assoc. Retired Federal Employees, Graduated from the Emporia State University where he was a member of the Golf team. He was very active in golf around the state of Kansas and rated golf courses. He helped with the start of the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. He served on the Golf Board at the Emporia Country Club as well as the City Golf Board.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Emporia with Pastor Bob Colerick of the church conducting the service. Inurnment will be at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia will military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion, and Lowry Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday night at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
