Fred Eugene Kunkel

Fred Eugene Kunkel, 78 of Emporia, Kansas died Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Sunset Manor in Waverly, Kansas.

Fred was born March 24, 1940 in Emporia, the son of Eddie Elmer and Mildred Marie (Dixon) Kunkel. He worked in shipping at Dolly Madison Bakery in Emporia for 26 years, retiring in 1998. Fred enjoyed Fishing and going to country music shows.

Fred married Marcia Nunemaker and they later divorced. He then married Peggy Wittgartner and they later divorced. Fred is survived by his son Ron Kunkel and wife Melanie of Waverly and two grandchildren Dylan Kunkel and Hannah Kunkel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Wesley Kunkel.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Brad Hargis of the Westside Baptist Church in Emporia will be officiating. Interment will be in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2018 at the funeral home.
