Gary L. Brooks

Gary L. Brooks, 62, Emporia, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Emergency Department of Newman Regional Health.

Gary was born February 27, 1956 at Parsons, Kansas, the son of Charles E. and Betty Jo (Harness) Brooks. He married Martha Proehl on March 20, 1981 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

Besides his wife, Marti, Gary is survived by his sons; Lucas Brooks (Kari Kirkhart), Wichita, Jesse Brooks (Shelly Sharon) and Caleb Brooks (Stephanie), Emporia, mother; Betty Jo Brooks, Emporia,  Brother; Eddie Brooks (Vicki), Emporia, , sister; Judy Sorenson (Kevin) Reading, and grandchildren;  Taylor Brooks, Cooper Brooks, and Ryan Persinger.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and brother-in-law, Tom Null.

Gary worked for the maintenance department of USD #253 (Emporia) for 27 years until his retirement. He enjoyed riding his Harley, woodworking, and restoring old cars.

Cremation is planned. The family is planning a gathering at a later date.
