Gary Lynn Epley

Gary Epley of rural Emporia passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home. He was 79 years old.

Gary was born on May 20, 1944, in Kingman, Kansas, to Robert L. and Pauline (Carlburg) Epley. He married Kathleen Wisehart on June 20, 1965, in Enid, Oklahoma. They moved to Emporia in 1974. Kathleen survives of the home.

Other survivors include daughter Jahna (Paul) Espinosa of Lawrence, Kansas, and grandchildren Evan and Josephine Howell, also of Lawrence, Kansas.

Gary graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and immediately began working for the Social Security Administration. He worked in offices in Texas, Montana, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Utah before coming to Emporia as the first manager of the newly opened office in 1974.

Gary was an avid gardener and a talented weaver, and he enjoyed trying to beat the machines at casinos,
