Gary Hoerr of Emporia, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2026, at the age of 62.

Gary was born on February 20, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois, to George and Kathryn (Baer). He married Rosalba Renteria on February 20, 2006, in Emporia, Kansas.

Gary was fiercely devoted to and protective of his family and those he considered family. He loved his wife and boys deeply and would do anything for the people he loved. Gary was a man who truly knew a little about everything and could do just about anything. Exceptionally intelligent, resourceful, and mechanically gifted, he had a way of figuring things out when others couldn’t. If something was broken, Gary could probably fix it. He spent much of his working life in maintenance supervision, including several years as Maintenance Manager at Tyson. He had a mind of his own, questioned just about everything, and was always thinking ahead. He was full of opinions, knowledge, and stories, and there was never a shortage of conversation when Gary was around. He was one of a kind.

Gary is survived by his wife, Rosalba Hoerr; his sons, Brett Sutton of St. Louis, Missouri, Gary Hoerr Jr., Christian Hoerr, and Alexander Hoerr, all of Emporia; his brothers, George (Jeanne) Hoerr of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bill (Linda) Hoerr of Peoria, Illinois, Fred Hoerr of Joshua Tree, California, Ted (Carly) Hoerr of Ozark, Missouri, Mark (Shelli) Hoerr of Brimfield, Illinois, and Sam (Jodi) Hoerr of Des Moines, Iowa; his sisters, Betty (Ken) Downing of Brimfield, Illinois, Bonnie (Charles) DePalma of Brimfield, Illinois, Sarah (Jim) Borop of Peoria, Illinois, and Annie Kellem of Peoria, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Tara Hoerr, his brother, Matthew Hoerr, and nephews, Tommy and Quentin.
