Gary Hoffman, 73, Overland Park, Kansas and formerly of Emporia, Kansas, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Gary was born January 24, 1952, in Emporia, the son of Leo and Charlotte (Zimmerman) Hoffman. He is survived by his sister; Marsha Hoffman, Kansas City, Missouri, brother; Don (Susan) Hoffman, Topeka, Kansas, and nephews; Ryan (Heather) Munsey, Maize, Kansas and Brett (Amanda) Munsey, Shawnee, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Emporia, where he had worked on lighting for services several years ago. He was an Eagle Scout and former Assistance Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #152 of the church. His father, Leo, was an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad and Gary grew up with a love of trains and had been a member of the Emporia Train Club. He was a season ticket holder for Emporia State University and Kansas State University sporting events.
He worked as a custodian at Emporia State University for over 30 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home on Friday, April 18, 2025, between 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. A family service will be held later at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
