Gena Catherine Hoover of Emporia died on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her home. She was 79.
Cathy was born on February 1, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Ervin Franklin and Lorraine Evely Schesser Weber.
Surviving family members include sons, Randall Scott Smith of Emporia, Richard Steven Smith of Wichita, and Russell Shon Smith of El Dorado; brother Charles Weber of Marion, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Alan Weber and her sister Jane Huff.
Cathy was an LPN for many years at Flint Hills Care Center. She later went to work at Hopkins Manufacturing and worked in the shipping department. Cathy enjoyed making the rounds in town, hitting her favorite stores and seeing her friends. When she was at home, you would find her doing arts and crafts.
Cremation is planned with a Private Graveside service at the Memorial Park of Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Kansas.
