Genevieve M. Kimbrough, 90, of Emporia, Kansas, died on August 1, 2011 at Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia.
Genevieve was born on February 7, 1921 in Burr Oak, Kansas, the daughter of Isaac Ezra and Cora E. (King) Glover. She married James Merle Kimbrough on January 18, 1954 in Miltonville, Kansas. He died in May of 1984 in Emporia, Kansas.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister.
Genevieve was a telephone operator in Burr Oak, Kansas, and also did housecleaning. After moving to Emporia, she was a seamstress at Newman Department Store for twenty-plus years. She attended the First Friends Church in Emporia. She was active in the Emporia Bowling League.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, August 5, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at the Americus Cemetery in Americus, Kansas. The service will be conducted by Pastor Laura Burnett of the Madison United Methodist Church.
