George William Ensminger, Jr., 85, of Emporia, Kansas, died on September 9, 2012 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
George was born on November 4, 1926 in La Harpe, Kansas, the son of George William, Sr. and Pauline Ruth Phillips Ensminger. He married Carol Remsberg on May 24, 1947 in Iola, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, John R. Ensminger of Augusta, Georgia; daughters, Linda Ensminger of Fredonia, Kansas, and Cheryl and husband Bob Protheroe of Emporia; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ernest (Corky) Ensminger.
George was an electrician at Dolly Madison for fifteen years, and then worked at Mark II Lumber for eleven years before retiring. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. From 1944 to 1946 he served in the United States Army, and was a member of the Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion, Emporia.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Jeannie Jensen of First United Methodist Church, with military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion. Cremation will take place following the service.
