Gerald L. Myers, 71, rural Americus, Kansas, passed away at his home on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Gerald was born in Emporia, Kansas on November 8, 1949, the son of Franklin C. and Gladys L. (Johnson) Myers. He married Verla Lou Mize on June 5, 1970. They later divorced. On October 16, 1993 Gerald married Sharon M. Ludwig in Americus, Kansas. She survives of the home. Gerald is also survived by a son; Stephen (Clare) Spellman, Emporia, daughters; Jennifer (Chris Polk) Myers, Benton, Kansas, Carrie (John) McElfresh, Americus, Kansas, Nicole Thomas, Belvue, Kansas, and Stephanie Daugaard, Emporia, Kansas, Brothers; Gary D. Myers, Americus, Kansas, and Howard L. Myers, Overbrook, Kansas, Grandchildren; Dustyn, Cameron, Allison, Jessica, Shelby, Danielle, Tucker, Gavin, Willow, Fallan, Jordan, Andrew, Ashlyn, Amanda, Ann, Samantha, and Natalie, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Phillip.
He was a diary farmer and owned and operated Myers Greenhouse. Gerald was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Americus, The Garden Club of America, Young Farmer and Farm Wives of America, He was a Trustee and Treasurer of Americus Township and the Township representative on the Americus Library Board, a member of the Kansas Brown Swiss Association, and the Lyon County, (K-State) Extension Council Board.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Americus Cemetery, Americus. The service will be conducted by Pastor Rob Clausen, First Baptist Church, Emporia.
Friends may pay their respects at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until 9:00 PM and Thursday morning, 8:00 A.M. until noon. The family may not necessarily be present during those times.
