Gerald Louis Siebenaler

Gerald Louis Siebenaler, 73, of Madison, Kansas and formerly of Olpe, Kansas, died on October 13, 2011 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Gerald was born on November 29, 1937 in Olpe, Kansas, the son of Jake and Barbara Elizabeth Brown Siebenaler. He married Nellie Lou Wilhite on April 28, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. She died on July 8, 2011 in Emporia, Kansas.

Gerald is survived by: son, Michael Siebenaler of Emporia; daughters, Gail Finlayson of Gridley, Kansas, and Jeri McIlvain of Olpe; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, L.J. Siebenaler of Olpe.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Nick Siebenaler; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Siebenaler.

Gerald graduated from Olpe High School in 1956, and joined the United States Army. After several years, he was honorably discharged and he came back to the Emporia area to work for the Kansas Soya Products Mill in Emporia. He later went to work for the Coffey County Rural Water District in Burlington, Kansas, and after that he was a pipeline inspector for Panhandle Eastern, Alva, Oklahoma. Gerald later worked for Bryant Construction in Halstead, Kansas, after that he went to work for the Road and Bridge Department for Lyon County. Gerald was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Jess Allen of the Lamont Wesleyan Church in Lamont, Kansas. Following the service Mr. and Mrs. Siebenaler will be interred will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Olpe, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011, at the funeral home.
