Gladys I. Comeaux, 97, retired school teacher, formerly of Reading, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 09, 2014 in Auburn, California.
  
  
  Gladys Irene Hoyt, the daughter of Charles F. and Mary Stewart Hoyt, was born on January 5, 1917 in Reading. She married Herbert Comeaux, and he preceded her in death.
  
  
  Surviving members of the family include: two daughters, Donna Marie Helton of Antioch, California, and Rose Margaret Fiori of Rocklin California; a brother, James Hoyt of Burlington, Kansas; two sisters, Edith Voorhees of Emporia, Kansas and Ellen Hockanson of Wichita, Kansas; two granddaughters, Brenda L. Mason of Parker, Arizona, and DeAnna M. Turcotte of Discovery Bay, California; and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lee of Antioch and Tyler Turcotte of Discovery Bay.
  
  
  Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Hoyt, and one brother, Harold Hoyt.
  
  
  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor Bob Robison of the First Christian Church in Madison will officiate. Burial will follow in Duck Creek (Phillips) Cemetery, near Reading.
  
  
  The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
