Glenn Eugene Barrett

Glenn Eugene Barrett, Hartford, Kansas, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Coffey County Hospital, Burlington, Kansas. He was 74.

Glenn was born at Emporia, Kansas on July 1, 1936, the son of Fred J. and Vivian (Wagner) Barrett. He married Patsy Rich at Emporia, Kansas in August of 1958, they later divorced and she survives. He later married Marie Nuessen on July 14, 1967 at Willard, Kansas. She also survives.

Other surviving family members include: a son, Glen Alan Barrett, Reading, Kansas; daughters, Debbie Team of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Cheryl Carley of Pensacola, Florida; step-sons, Ferlin Williams, Emporia, Kansas, Gary Williams, Hartford, Kansas, and Danny Williams, Emporia, Kansas; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl Wallace; his grandparents; and a sister, Edith Kay Rogers.

Mr. Barrett was a mechanic and welder for Blacktop Construction Company, and its later successors. He retired in 1998.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and had served in the Kansas National Guard for six years.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett chapel, conducted by Rev. Leonard Wagner, Church of God of Prophecy, Emporia. Interment will be in the Hartford Cemetery, Hartford, Kansas.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, January 18, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:00.
