Glenn E. Johnson, 92, of Emporia, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Holiday Resort Care Center.

Glenn Edward Johnson, the son of Edward O. & Fern Austin Johnson was born April 11, 1925, on the family farm near Miller. He married Lois Florine Galutia on June 22, 1952 in Miller. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2017.

He is survived by a son Robin Johnson of Emporia; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Tony) Hughes; two great-grandsons, Jaevin and Camden Hughes all of El Dorado; and three sisters, Shirley (Lawrence) Parks of Reading, Marilyn (Byron) Miller of Garland, TX, and Bernice (Larry) Tredway of Galva.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois; a son, Jerry Johnson; two brothers, Dr. Lawrence Johnson, and J. Norman Johnson; and a sister Ardis Williams.

He graduated from Miller High School in 1943. Once he graduated he joined the Navy and served during WW II. Once he was discharged from the Navy he attended Kansas State Teachers College (now ESU). He had a printing business for many years then worked as press foreman for the Emporia Gazette until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Rapp Cemetery (west of Osage City on Highway 56). Pastor Lorraine Bailey of the First Christian Church in Emporia will officiate. Memorial donations to the charity of the donor’s choice may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
