Glenna Jo Gamblian of Emporia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 90 years old.
Glenna was born on March 2, 1936, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Noland B. and Harriett Devier McDonald. On January 28, 1952, she married the love of her life, Larry Gamblian, in Eldorado, Kansas. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, and community. This January they would have celebrated 75 wonderful years together.
After raising her daughters, she then went to work for Citizens National Bank, and then later worked at the Lyon County Courthouse in the Appraisers Office. Glenna was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Emporia. Glenna will be remembered for her deep love for her family, continued support she gave to them and her quiet strength and caring heart.
Surviving family members include her husband Larry Gamblian of Emporia; daughters, Debbie (Ron) Larson of Oak Grove, Missouri and Julie (Tom) Coble of Olpe; brother; Dee (Shirley) McDonald of Lee Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Matthew Defoor, Travis Defoor, Callie VanNess, Chelsie Coble, Tanner (Kelsi) Coble, and Kaylie (Jake) Hodges; great grandchildren, Madison Stangl Defoor, Trace Defoor, Rylie Defoor, Brayden VanNess, Brielle VanNess, Brooke VanNess, Carter Coble, Owen Coble, Waylon Hodges, Kade Hodges, and Scottie Jo Hodges.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia with the service at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hand in Hand Hospice or the Shriners Children’s Hospital and can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O.
