Gregory Scott Campbell of Emporia, died on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Marion County. He was 32.
Greg was born on April 29, 1993, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Tammera (Campbell) and Ron Kreger. Greg had the most beautiful blue eyes and contagious laugh. These charms landed him with his wife, Megan and they were married November 11, 2024, in Emporia, Kansas. Greg gained a wife while his son Brentley gained a mom.
Greg grew up in Garden City, Kansas and graduated from Garden City High School. He started working as an electrician helper at the age of 16 and continued to work in the electrical field, becoming a licensed journeyman electrician. He was working for Funk Electric at the time of his death.
Greg resided in Quinter Kansas for a few years. While there, he was an active member of the volunteer fire department.
Greg was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. He had MANY Chiefs jerseys as players moved on from the Chiefs. After meeting Megan, he became a huge K-State fan. His and Megan’s first date was a K-State football game. They were engaged the following year at a K-State football game. November 11th was very special to them, so they chose to be married on November 11th. He became a Royals fan as Megan, Brentley and her family attended several Royals games the last several years. Greg and Brentley loved to build Legos and collect anything Pokemon.
Surviving family members include, his wife Megan Campbell of Emporia; son, Brentley Campbell of Emporia; parents, Ron and Tammera Kreger of Garden City; brothers, Thomas Campbell of Garden City and Joshua (Monica) Kreger of Junction City; sisters, Lacey Kreger of Kansas City, Kristian (Nate) Call of Colby, Kallie (Cameron) McDaniel of Scott City, and Kassidy Mehl of Colby; nieces and nephews, Kayzleigh, Brody, Kale, Kaison, Kade, Cambreigh, Emma, Kimberly, Leela, Myles, Lochlan, and Madelyn; special family and friends, Tiffany Mehl-Oakley, Karen and Dave Crouch of Emporia, Peggy Chaffain of Burlington, and Layne (Sara) Higgins of Emporia.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Roy Kreger and grandparents Bert and Sarah Campbell, nephew Kingam Johnson, aunt Carol Hicks and his uncle’s Russell Campbell, Rick Schwerdffeger, and J.D. Hickert.
He was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia and was recently baptized. He helped with the flower beds at the church as that was his wife’s passion.
Cremation is planned with the visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia.
