Gregory Adam Gasche

Gregory Adam Gasche of rural Hartford, died on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home. He was 69.

Gregg was born on August 28, 1956, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Daniel Grover and Elizabeth Ann Haughton Gasche. He married Nancy Oetting on November 26, 1977, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.

Surviving family members include his wife, Nancy Gasche of Hartford; sons, Adam (Micheal) Gasche of Allen, and Bart (Mary) Gasche of Golden City, Missouri; daughter, Tanya (Justin) Jacobucci of Derby; grandchildren, Payton Hopke Gasche (Shyanne Hill), BreAnna (Shayne) Gasche-McGee, Trace Gasche, Stormee Gasche, Adeline Gasche, Max Gasche, Jeana Jo Jacobucci, Will Jacobucci, and Jared Jacobucci.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Gregg had an incredible work ethic and was a rancher and truck driver for most of his life. He loved to judge high school and ranch rodeos. Preserving the cowboy way of life was important to him. But his top priority was always his family and he was married to the love of his life for over 48 years. Their marriage was the epitome of sticking together through thick and thin, especially when life got tough. The amount of pride he took in each of his kids and grandkids was immeasurable. He always told the doctors he fought glioblastoma so hard because he wanted to be there for his nine grandkids. His orneriness and personality shone through to the very end. He enjoyed making others smile and always had a joke.

He had a servant’s heart and loved helping others. As an active parish council member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hartford, he contributed his time and efforts on the new church hall and grotto. He served on the Lyon County Fair Board for 43 years, as president and in numerous other leadership roles throughout the years. He helped bring the Kansas High School and Junior High School rodeos back to Emporia. When Eagle Creek Saddle Club moved in 1977 from Olpe to its current location west of town, he and other members brought their welders and post hole diggers to get started. He also served in various roles within that club and always said most saddle clubs don’t last as long as that one has. He attributed that to families like the Schades and Stueves who are committed to maintaining a space for young cowhands to grow.

Due to limited seating for his funeral, the family invites you to the visitation (Cowboy Gathering) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Anderson Building at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.

The rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hartford with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Maydale Cemetery, Olpe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Lyon County Fair Board, St. Mary Catholic Church or Eagle Creek Saddle Club can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O.
