Harold E. Hale

Harold E. Hale, 92 of Emporia, Kansas died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Harold was born January 6, 1926 in Emporia the son of Dewey and Viola (Nicholson) Hale. He owned and operated Harold’s Welding Service in Emporia from 1964 to 2017. It was more than a business to him, he enjoyed welding. He enjoyed it because it provided him the opportunity to create and be productive. It also brought him the opportunity to forge countless friendships in the Emporia community. His business brought him great pride and provided him with the motivation to continue working until his retirement at age 91. Harold was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and Fraternal Order of Eagle’s #2587. He was an avid hunter in his earlier years, a gun collector and loved John Wayne movies.

Harold married Gaylene Garriott on November 26, 1954 in El Dorado, Kansas. While she physically survives Harold, she lost an irreplaceable loving husband and friend with his passing. Other survivors include: daughter Kathryn Singer of Topeka, grandsons Ryan Singer of Lawrence, and Anthony Singer of Wichita, great-granddaughters Ava Singer and Abigail Singer and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom brought joy to Harold and who loved him dearly in return. They will miss his conversation, his quiet helpfulness and loving gestures. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Mr. Charles Bradbury of the First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 28, 2018 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home.
