Harrison “Harry” Andrew Drummond, 80 of McAlester died Wednesday May 19, 2020 in McAlester at his residence.
Harry was born to Donald W. Drummond and Hazel M. (Counsellor) Drummond November 2, 1939 in Strong City, Kansas. He graduated from Elmdale High School in May of 1957. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1958 to 1968. Harry married Evelyn Isabelle Gallehue October 6, 1961 in National City, California and she preceded him in death in August of 2007. After his Navy service he worked as an inside electrician for General Telephone Company and retired April of 2002. He had lived and worked in Long Beach, Norwalk and Whittier, California. Harry and Evelyn moved to McAlester in 2004. He married Wilma Goodman February of 2009 in McAlester. He attended First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion for many years and had served as post Commander of the Harrison Powers American Legion Post #79 for 3 years. Harry was a charter member and served as Treasurer of the Kiamichi Sam Travel Club.
Harry was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; wife, Evelyn Drummond; brothers, Donald Lee and Jerry Drummond; sisters, Vera Pierce and Delores Lee; stepsons, Alan and Michael Epperly.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home; daughter, Janice Bolts and husband, Mark of Meridian, Idaho, granddaughter, Marisa Taylor and husband, Ryan; step-grandson, Landon, granddaughters, Natalie and Cora Taylor all of Middleton, Idaho; step-daughters, Gayle Standridge of College Station, Texas, Linda Hsu of Haysville, Kansas, Bonnie New and husband, Ralph of Caldwell, Idaho; 6 step grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Bernhardt and husband, Sam of Marion, Kansas, Rebecca Janousek and husband, Douglas of Salina, Kansas; brothers, Richard Drummond of Emporia, Kansas, William Drummond and wife, Joann of Hutchinson, Kansas, Stephen Drummond of Mt. Vernon Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A private graveside service will be Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Kansas.
