Harry L. Fowler, Jr. of Emporia, died on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. He was 81.
Harry was born on March 25, 1943, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Harry, Sr. and Jane Edwards Fowler. He married Marjory E. Fruit on January 19, 1964, in Pratt Kansas. She died on November 8, 1999, in Topeka. He later married Joan Phillips on March 4, 2006, in Emporia. She survives.
Surviving family members include his wife, Joan Fowler of Emporia; sons, Wes Fowler and Larry (Pam Landis) Fowler both of Emporia; daughter, Nancy Fowler of Emporia; grandson, Clayton (Kimberlyn Gunlock) Fowler of Neosho Rapids; Stepsons, Tom (Amy) Phillips, Jared Phillips, and Bradley Phillips as well as nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjory, brother Thomas Fowler and sister Betty Knoll.
Harry was a lifelong farmer and rancher in Lyon County. He participated in Beef Fest for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Kansas Farm Bureau and the Kansas Livestock Association. Harry was a member of the Emporia Masonic Lodge #12 and local square-dancing club the Swingers.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery south of Emporia.
