Hazel P. Duncan, 98 of Emporia died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Holiday Resort in Emporia.

Hazel was born August 13, 1917 in Arabia, Ohio the daughter of Ellis Reeves and Sallie Carrie (Severt) Miller. She graduated from high school in Friends, Kansas and graduated from beauty school in 1938. From 1939 to 1982 she worked as a beautician in 5 different shops retiring from Arts Barber Shop. Hazel was an avid bowler and enjoyed crocheting, baking and square dancing.

Hazel married Leonard Duncan on May 5, 1939 in Marion, Kansas. He died June 20, 1963 at his home northeast of Dunlap, Kansas. She was mother to Donald Dean Duncan born May 10, 1943 in Emporia. He died August 31, 1985 in Kansas City, Missouri.

She is survived by nieces and nephews Roy Miller and wife Annette of Emporia, Ray Miller and companion Julie Parks of Emporia, Sue Nutterfield and husband Mitch of Desoto, Kansas, Sally Miller-Cheek and husband Mike of Battle Creek, Michigan, and many others.

Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Sunnyside Cemetery near Bushong, Kansas. Pastor Susan Daniel-Brey of the Grace United Methodist Church in Emporia will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to Grace United Methodist Church following the service to enjoy a slice of pie and a time of fellowship and remembrance.
