Heather Marie Mercer Barrett, 36, of Neosho Rapids, Kansas died October 12, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Heather Marie Mercer was born May 4, 1975 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth LeRoy and Rhonda Gayle (Edington) Mercer. She married Donald Bess on October 23, 1993 in Hartford, Kansas, and they later divorced. She then married Wade Allen Barrett on July 11, 2011 in Emporia.
Heather is survived by her husband Wade of the home; her mother, Rhonda Mercer of Emporia; son, Cody Allen Bess of the home; daughter, Amber Lynn Bess of the home; stepsons, Cody Allen Barrett of Neosho Rapids, and Colton Lee Barrett of Neosho Rapids; stepdaughter, Melanie Jane Barrett of the home; brothers, Shawn Allen Mercer of Fall City, Nebraska, and Dustin Eugene Mercer of Winfield, Kansas; and a sister, Michelle Denise Parker of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
Heather worked as a cashier for the last 3 years at Brecheisen Oil Company in Hartford, Kansas. Prior to that, she worked for several years in the kitchen at the Emporia Country Club.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Emporia. Pastor Gene Huston of the United Methodist Church, Neosho Rapids will be officiating. Interment will follow in Hartford Cemetery, Hartford, Kansas.
A visitation will be Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
