Helen M. Coffman, 86, of Emporia, Kansas, died on September 22, 2012 at Sterling House in Emporia.

Helen was born on June 11, 1926 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Florence Ada Rodgers Woodworth. She married Lester Coffman on September 6, 1947 at First Christian Church in Emporia. He died on November 4, 2004.

Survivors include: sons, Doug Coffman and Steve Coffman both of Emporia;
daughter, Christine Turner of Emporia; sister, Shirley Koehn of Wichita;
grandchildren, Quentin Coffman, Austin Coffman, Sean Otto, Aaron Otto, and Marya Rabon; great-grandchildren, Logan and Sydney Coffman, and Mark Rabon.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Jack Woodworth; and two sisters, Lou Williams, and Esther Theobald.

Helen graduated from Emporia High in 1944. She was the secretary for the Board of Education office in Emporia before becoming the first Clerk of the Board of Education for District 251 North Lyon County; she then worked nineteen years as the sales secretary for Dolly Madison Cake in Emporia. She is a member of First Christian Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Women’s Bowling Association.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Bob Colerick of First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

The visitation is scheduled from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, September 24, 2012 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
