Helen Marie Richard, 91, Olpe, Kansas, passed away at her home on Friday, April 13, 2018.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe. Father John Cordes will celebrate the mass. Interment will follow in the Saint Joseph Cemetery, Olpe. The Rosary will be recited at the church Monday evening at 7:00. The family will receive friends at the church Monday beginning at 6:00 P.M. and continuing after the Rosary until 8 P.M.
Helen Marie Lenninger was born in Olpe, Kansas on November 21, 1926, the daughter of Andrew Francis and Mary Josephine (Diebolt) Lenninger. She married Paul Edward Richard, Jr. at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, on December 30, 1948. He died in Emporia on April 3, 1975.
Helen is survived by her son; John (Cindy) Richard, Olpe, KS, daughters; Judi Richard, and Mary (Brad) Metzler, of Topeka, KS, Nancy (Ken) Albrecht, Lawrence, KS, and Carolyn (Brett) Davis, Olpe, KS, sister; Charlene Hotzel, Emporia, KS, seven grandchildren; Angie Richard, Olpe, KS, Melissa (Jarrett) Mackey, Olathe, KS, Elizabeth (Josh) Belt, Emporia, KS, Mitch Metzler, Boston, MA, Kate Albrecht, Omaha, NE, Frankie Davis, Joplin, MO, and Neleh Davis, Olpe, KS, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter; Suzanne Metzler, and her brother; Maurice Lenninger.
Mrs. Richard was a lifelong member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, the Saint Anne Altar Society, the Eagle Creek HDU, and she was a 4-H leader. She had worked as a cook at Olpe (Kansas) High School for 21 years, and had been retired 22 years.
A memorial has been designated to Saint Joseph Cemetery, Olpe, with contributions sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
