Helen June Vance, 95, formerly of Wichita and Emporia, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Villa Saint Joseph Care Center, Overland Park, Kansas.
Helen June Archer was born August 7, 1920 at Emporia, the daughter of Melville Welling and Edna McCoy (Snead) Archer. She and Lewis McGovney Vance, Jr. were married in Emporia, in June of 1941. He died August 9, 1988.
Mrs. Vance is survived by her sons, Robert L. Vance, Lincoln, California, and William M. Vance, Leawood, Kansas; sister, Mary Brinkman, Olpe, Kansas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Melville Archer, Jr.
She had been a member of the College Hill United Methodist Church, Wichita, Kansas, and the Double Circle Sunday School Class at the church, as well as the 20th Century Club in Wichita.
A graveside service will be held at Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Emporia on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Mr. Lee Hoskins.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Society for Crippled Children, with contributions sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
