Helen Elizabeth (Kidd) Webb, 76, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Flint Hills Care Center, Emporia.
Helen was born September 25, 1935, the daughter of Raymond Ellsworth and Julia Grace (DeGraffenreid) Kidd. She attended Milford schools and graduated from Milford Rural High School in 1953. She attended A&M Junior College in Miami, Oklahoma, where she met Charles Webb, whom she married at Milford on May 27, 1954. After his discharge from the service, they lived in Oklahoma and also in Nebraska. They came to Emporia in 1969 when Charles taught at Emporia State University.
Helen attended Emporia State College and Flint Hills Vo-Tech, where she received her LPN certification. She worked as an LPN for many years, and worked for an orthopedic surgeon for twelve years. She was a past president of the Lyon County Licensed Practical Nurse Association, and a board member of the Kansas Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles, who died in 1998; and her son, Steven Webb, who died in 2007.
Survivors include her grandson, Jon Andrew Webb; her sisters, Ima Jean Kidd of New York City, New York, and Marybelle Schreiner of Manhattan, Kansas; a brother, Leon Kidd (Nancy) of Forrest City, Arkansas; and also several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, conducted by Pastor John Davis of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Emporia.
