Helen Wilson, Emporia, Kansas, died at her home on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the age of 96.
Helen Berrie was born at Trail, Oklahoma on February 27, 1915, the daughter of David Admiral and Sally Belle (Coakley) Berrie. She married Wesley Edward Getz on September 26, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas. He died January 25, 1946 in Emporia. She later married Claibourn D. Wilson on May 1, 1975 at Olpe, Kansas. He died January 31, 1984.
Surviving family members include: daughter, Jeanette Schmidt, Olpe; stepson, David E. Wilson, El Dorado, Kansas; stepdaughter, Vermona E. Runnebaum, Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Janel L. Burenheide, Jeanine Guthrie, Chris Schmidt, and Jelinda Watts; four step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Travis Guthrie, Justin Burenheide, Kelsey Burenheide, Ryker Schmidt, and Damon Schmidt; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; and brothers and sisters, Laura Moore, Marion Berrie, Aubrey Berrie, Audrey Berrie, and Roy Berrie.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker, and worked for the Hallmark Card facility in Emporia 13 years, until it closed in the early 60’s.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Father Rich Warsnak, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, South of Emporia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening, September 11, 2011, from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.
