Helen Victoria Woods, 90, Emporia, Kansas, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Helen Victoria White was born March 10, 1922 at Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Earl and Queen of Victoria (Andrews) White. She married Harlan C. “Tex” Woods in Ottawa, Kansas on October 2, 1954. He died September 6, 1991.
She is survived by her niece, whom she raised as a daughter, Sharon Brown, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Sharon’s four children; and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Woods was a custodial supervisor at Emporia State University for many years.
She was a member of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, the Missionary Society of the church, the Board of Trustees and Deaconess Board, and served as treasurer of the church.
Funeral Services will be held at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia, on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Michael Moore of the church. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Thursday evening, May 24, 2012, from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
