Henry O. Wilson, 89, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on October 15, 2025, at Newman Regional Health.
Henry was born on September 8, 1936, in Arkansas City, Kansas, the son of Charles V. and Thelma Ann (Wilbourn) Wilson. Henry and Corinne J. North were united in marriage on June 13, 1964, at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Emporia, Kansas. She passed on June 2, 2019.
Henry is survived by his son, Paul M. Wilson, Emporia, Kansas, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, his daughter Lisa Ann Miller, who died September 29, 1990, and his parents.
Henry attended high school at Conception Abbey, in Conception, Missouri. He earned his Master's degree in Biology from Emporia State University. He also attended Duke University and Oregon State University, studying Marine Biology working towards his Doctorate degree.
Henry's passion was teaching. He taught for over 25 years, retiring in 1998. He taught at the University of Colorado, Utica University, Syracuse University, and also at Emporia High School, and Lowther South in Emporia, Kansas.
Cremation is planned. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 27 Cottonwood Street, Emporia, Kansas, 66801. Father Carter Zielinski will celebrate the mass. Inurnment will follow at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 2000 Prairie Street, Emporia, Kansas, 66801.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Research Fund, and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas, 66801.
