Hildred Mary Cook

Hildred Mary Cook passed away on May 13, 2013 at the age of 96. She died peacefully at the Congregational Home in Brookfield, WI. Hildred had spent the last few years in Wisconsin with her two sons and her late husband Cleve, who passed away earlier this year.

Hildred was born November 5, 1916, the daughter of Roy and Flave Brickley of Americus, Kansas. She graduated from Americus High School and from the College of Emporia. After college, she taught school in Lebo, Kansas prior to marrying Cleve Cook on June 11, 1941. Hildred was a lifelong resident of the Emporia area. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Hildred was a homemaker as well as an avid bridge player. She was formerly a member of the Emporia Social Service Club.

Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She made several trips and spent as much time as possible with her three granddaughters.

She is survived by her two sons and their families, Robert Cook and granddaughter Carey; and Roy and Teena Cook and granddaughters, Gretchen and Rachel.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday June 3, 2013 in the C.D. Longs Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Emporia.
