Imogene Eunice Britton formerly of Waverly, died January 30, 2024, at Park View Nursing Home in Garnett, Kansas.

Known as Imo to most or Jean was born January 26, 1938, at Aulne, Kansas the daughter of Henry J. and Agnes Elizabeth (Just) Gaede. At the age of 4 she moved with the family to Peabody, where she attended school graduating in 1956.

She married Robert Eugene Britton on September 9, 1956, at Peabody, to this union three son’s were born, Mark Alan, Robert Scott and John Wesley. They lived in Peabody, moving to Florence in 1956, the family lived in Topeka a short time before making their home in Waverly in 1966.

She was a member of the First Batist Church of Waverly. The Waverly Booster Club, having served as an officer and board member for several years, she was a charter member of the The Sassy Red Hatters of Waverly, previous member of the Homemakers Club and long-time active member of Hull-Cromwell Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary, she enjoyed working with the Legion sponsoring the annual Athletic Banquet. She worked at several part-time jobs: the Waverly Sale Barn, Don’s Electric, the Waverly Locker and the Lunch Box Café. She worked as the Health Information Clerk at Sunset Manor in Waverly at Sunset Manor, starting her job there two weeks after the Manor opened in March 1977. She worked there 30 plus years, retiring May 31, 2007.

She always said, the greatest joy was being a wife, Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. She loved to watch her sons and grandchildren in all the activities they participated in.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, a sister Leona F Gowin, brother Paul Gaede, her husband, Bob and son, Scott. Survivors include sons, Mark of Lebo, John (Denise) Britton of Waverly, grandchildren Jesse (Stefani) Britton, Alyx (Chase) Whitcomb, R.J. Britton (Kaelee Knoll) and Keighley Morrissey and 2 great-granddaughters, Sawyer Leigh & Parker Jean. She is also survived by her sister Sharon K (Dennis) Pickens of Peabody, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, Waverly with burial following at the Waverly Cemetery.  The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday night at the church.  Memorial contributions to the Good Shephard Hospice in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O.
