Inez E. Hines (95) of Emporia, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at her home.
Her funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia. Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier will officiate. Burial will take place at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with Inez’s family members from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service begins at the church.
Inez Elsie Schmidt, the daughter of John and Ida Edith Wehrenberg Schmidt, was born on December 29, 1919 in Olpe, Kansas. On Valentine’s Day in 1942, she married Dale Hines in Winfield, Kansas. He survives Inez at their home.
Other surviving members of the family include: three sons, Ronald Hines and his spouse Judy of Lebo, Kansas, Ray Hines and his spouse Sandy, and Donald Hines, all of Emporia; two sisters, Leona Conrade of Newton, Kansas, and Louise McIntire of Andover, Kansas; five grandchildren, Sheri Siebert, Tim Hines, Deanne Kelly, Tony Hines, and Michelle Hines; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Her parents and two brothers, Walter and Herman Schmidt, preceded her in death.
Inez was predominantly a homemaker; however, she worked outside her home for 14 years in the kitchen of Newman Hospital. As a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, she participated as an active member of the Ruth Circle.
