Irene M. Brown (97) of Emporia passed away Friday, March 04, 2011 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor Jones Health Center.
Irene Mary Brinkman, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Fladung Brinkman, was born June 25, 1913 in Olpe. She married Joseph Matthew Brown on April 11, 1934 in Emporia. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1997.
Irene is survived by: three sons, Jerry Brown of Emporia, Joe Brown of Kansas City, MO and Jim Brown of Evansville, IN; two sisters, Bernadine Starr of Wichita, and Lucille Lumley of Emporia; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, Paul Brinkman and Norman Brinkman.
She worked for the Hallmark Card Company and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Tuesday, March 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. Rich Warsnak as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
