Isabel L. Wheat, 93, of Emporia died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett. Her daughter Adel Burhenn will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
Isabel Lorraine Danford, the daughter of Everett L. and Mabel C. Childs Danford was born September 2, 1924 in Rural Chase County, Kansas. She married Willard “Odell” Wheat on October 8, 1947 in Wichita. He preceded her on February 7, 2006. Isabel was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Adel L. Burhenn of Great Bend; a brother, Eddie Danford of Strong City; a sister, Rae Jeanette Byrd of Lees Summit, Mo.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard “Odel”; a daughter Sharon K. Borth; a brother, Jimmie Danford; and four sisters, Margie Burton, Eileen Bender, Helen Payton, and Velma Thompson.
