J. Janice Stevenson, 88, of Emporia died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Jan was born on April 7, 1928 in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil W. and Myrtle Browning Hawley. She married Harold Stevenson on July 6, 1946 in Emporia, Kansas who continues to reside at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Surviving family members include: Three daughters; Janell Andrews (husband Glen) of Eureka, Kansas, Joleen Stevenson of Kansas City, and Joni Black (husband Craig) of Emporia, Kansas; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Jan was a homemaker, a member of Beta Sigma Phi social sorority, and a member of the First Christian Church of Emporia.
Jan will be cremated and a Celebration of Life is planned for 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 in the basement atrium at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor, Emporia. A private family burial will be at a later date at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions to First Christian Church can be sent in care of the funeral home.
