J. Philip Welch, Sr.

1. Philip Welch, Sr., (82) of Savannah, Mo, formerly of the Emporia area died Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph, MO. Cremation is planned.

John Philip Welch the son of Lee Maynard and Ruth Elizabeth Nation Welch was born April 14, 1936 in Emporia. He was an accountant, a truck driver and a farmer. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Savannah, Mo.

He is survived by one son, J. Philip (Cindy) Welch, Jr. of Sunrise Beach, Mo; eight daughters, Virginia (Rick) Morse of Newell, SD, Brenda (Bobby) Brewster of Spruce Pine, NC, Peggy Welch of Camdenton, MO, Lori Welch of Waverly, Tracey (Duane) Weirsma of North Port, FL, Christine (Vernon) Williams and Nikki Houston both of LeRoy, and Trisha Nicholson of Savannah, MO; a brother Michael (Irma) Welch of Manor, TX; twenty grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.

Philip was preceded in death by a son Jeff Beason and an adopted sister Gloria Swanson.

His Celebration of Life will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Saffordville United Methodist Church on the Lake Kahola Road with Pastor Marilyn Christmore officiating. Donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
