Jackie L. “Jack” Schrader, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at Emporia Presbyterian Manor on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the age of 75.
Jackie was born on January 4, 1938 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Harry Floyd and Oma Helen (Benton) Schrader. He and Jane Schneider were married at Maydale, Kansas (southeast of Olpe) on January 24, 1959. She survives.
Other family members include: a daughter, Brenda M. Hagemann (David), Chatham, Illinois; two sons, William A. Schrader (Betty), Andover, Kansas, and Michael L. Schrader (Brenda), Augusta, Kansas; two brothers, Oren S. Cooper (Gail), Lake Mary, Florida, and Norman Gier, Pea Ridge, Arkansas; three sisters, Helen M. Pulda, Loveland, Colorado, Terry Stoeker, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Linda Christenson, Pea Ridge, Arkansas; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy.
Mr. Schrader was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. He was Past State President of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the United States Navy in the late 50’s. He was a member of the Wichita (Kansas) Fire Department, retiring in 1983 as Chief Fire Investigator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. The mass will be celebrated by Father Rich Warsnak of the church. Interment will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe, Kansas.
The family will receive friends at the church Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.
