James Norman Brinkman

James “Jim” Norman Brinkman, age 70, of Olpe died at his home on June 16, 2024.

Born on January 3, 1954, to Norman and Mary Dee (Archer) Brinkman in Emporia, Kansas, Jim grew up working on the family farm.

After graduating from Olpe High School, Jim continued to work with his family to grow crops, raise livestock, and produce eggs. Jim soon joined the Water Board and afterward served as a Water Operator for over 40 years. In 1985, Jim married LaDena Swafford, and together, they had a son. They later divorced. Jim enjoyed farming for the remainder of his life, eventually with his son.

In his early years, Jim was an avid quail hunter and raised English Setters. He appreciated classic rock n’ roll and riding his motorcycle. Jim loved spending time with his friends and his grandsons.

Jim is survived by his son, Matthew (Jessica) Brinkman; grandsons, Abraham and Theodore Brinkman; brothers John (Jodi) Brinkman and Eric (Lisa) Brinkman; and nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Mary Brinkman.

The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe, followed by memorial service at 10:30 A.M.
