James Norville Jordan

James Norville Jordan and Karen Rhea Jordan passed away in their Lawrence home on July 26, 2015.

Jim was born on November 10, 1936, in Goff, Kansas, the son of Lloyd and Martha (Spiker) Jordan. He graduated from Horton High School in 1954. He married Susan Dannecker in 1956 and they moved their family to Emporia, Kansas in 1962 to attend Emporia State University. He and his business partner, Larry Pierce, owned and operated Management Advisory Computer Systems (MACS) in Emporia for over 25 years. He married Karen Miller in 1982.

Karen Rhea Miller was born on December 24, 1937 in Newton, KS, the daughter of Walter and Edith (Carlson) Miller. She graduated from Horton High School in 1955. She received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree from Kansas State University. She married Bob Dodson in 1959. She taught for over 35 years in schools in Missouri and Kansas, ending her career as a 6th grade teacher at Lowther Middle School in Emporia.

Jim and Karen owned a condo at Lake of the Ozarks and enjoyed spending time there on the water. The last 5 years they enjoyed rooting on their beloved Jayhawks from their home in Lawrence, KS.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kelman Miller.

They are survived by a son, Greg Jordan (Lisa), Emporia; daughter, Gwen Kitson (Dean), Williamsburg, Virginia; son, David Dodson (Kristi), Austin, Texas; daughter, Jamie Jasnoski (Nathan), Lebo, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and Jim’s sister, Virginia Schuetz (Jim), Horton, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Al Areheart of 12th Avenue Baptist Church in Emporia will be officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 1, 2015 in Wetmore Cemetery, Wetmore, Kansas.
