James E. Resch (63) of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
James Edward Resch, the son of Donald David and Nettie Jane Henning Resch, was born in Emporia June 11, 1947. He married Ruthann Samuelson January 6, 1973 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Emporia. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by: two sons, Benjamin Resch of Lawrence, Kansas, and Dr. Thomas Resch and his wife Megan of Wichita; two brothers, Donald David Resch, Jr. of Lenexa, Kansas, and Robert C. Resch of Summerville South Carolina. His parents and an infant sister, Donette Resch preceded him in death.
Mr. Resch was a machinist for various businesses, retiring from Lenze Corporation. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, a veteran of the Kansas National Guard, serving in Viet Nam, a board member of the Lyon County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Emporia Gardeners of America (formerly the Men’s Garden Club), and Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Emporia. Fr. Kelley J. Lackey II, rector of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Andrew’s Churchyard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either St. Andrew’s Church or to the Ozark Chapter of the American Red Cross for disaster relief in Joplin.
