James Walter Rhoads of Emporia died on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was 91.
Jim was born on March 23, 1929 in Hartford, Kansas the son of Sam and Mabel Cox Rhoads. He married Phyllis I. Parks on November 8, 1949 in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. She died on August 24, 1994 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: sons, Terry Rhoads and James Rhoads, Jr. of Emporia; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, son Randall Rhoads, Sr., grandson Randall Rhoads, Jr., great-grandson Austin Rhoads, great-granddaughter Violet Rhoads, brothers Lee Rhoads and Sammy Rhoads, Jr., and a sister Alice Richardson.
Jim owned and operated J.W. Rhoads Used Cars in Emporia for 56 years.
A private graveside service is planned at the Lebo Creek Cemetery, Lebo.
