Janice Sue Cowell, 57, of Emporia, Kansas, died on January 11, 2012 at her home in Emporia.


Janice was born on November 14, 1954 in Coffeyville, Kansas, the daughter of Howard and Margaret Foland Brocaw. She married Stanley C. Wilson in 1972 in Emporia; they later divorced. She later married Ronald W. Cowell in 1984 in Coffeyville. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include: son, Dave Wilson and daughter-in-law Tiffany Walters-Wilson of Overland Park, Kansas; stepson, Christopher Cowell of Port Angeles, Washington; stepdaughters, Jenny Cowell of Seattle, Washington, and Rhonda Cameron of Port Angeles, Washington; granddaughter, Alyssa Wilson of Overland Park; step-granddaughters, Betty and Sarah Cameron of Port Angeles, Washington; sister, Tina Riley of Coffeyville; niece, Emily Riley of Wichita, Kansas; and nephew, Jesse Riley of Wichita.


She is preceded in death by her parents.


Janice owned Cowell Custom Longarm Quilting in Emporia for several years. She was a member of the Emporia Regional Quilt Guild, and Flint Hills Regional Quilt Guild.


Cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends and family on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus in Emporia.
