Janice Elaine (Salvatori) Haselhuhn, 79, of Emporia, Kansas, died May 28, at home where she resided with her husband, Ron. She was born April 10, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Joseph H. Salvatori and Marjorie Wyman.
Visitation will be
Thursday, May 31, at 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
at Roberts Blue Barnett Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place
Friday, June 1, at 11:30 a.m.
at Faith Lutheran Church, 1348 Trailridge Road, Emporia, Kansas. Private interment will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Olpe, Kansas.
Jan attended San Lorenzo High School in San Lorenzo, California, and graduated from Omaha North High School in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1957. She married Ronald Paul Haselhuhn on June 7, 1958, and they enjoyed 59 years together.
She served as secretary to the Chief of the Emporia Police Department for 11 years, retiring in 1997. She was active in Girl Scouts as a troop leader and volunteer and served as President of the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council.
Jan’s strong and constant faith sustained her throughout her life. She served as secretary at Messiah Lutheran Church from 1974 to 1986. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served the congregation by contributing her time, energy, talent and organizational skills to many committees and to the church’s annual Oktoberfest event. She was an active member of the church’s Evangelism Committee and throughout her life, through her words and deeds, never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Erwin (Geraldine) Salvatori and Derald (Loretta) Salvatori; and sisters Jean (Howard) Scott and Marjorie Jo (Lonnie) Tennant. She is survived by her husband, Ron; sisters Eloise (Richard) Murray and Betty (Norman) McBride; daughters Barbara (Howard) Sanford and Pamela Babb; sons Robert (Sherri) Haselhuhn and Don (Gayle) Haselhuhn; grandchildren Elizabeth Sanford, Eric Babb, Taylor Babb, Samantha Hayes, Garrett Hayes, Marisa Haselhuhn, Noelle Haselhuhn, Caleb Haselhuhn and Andrew Haselhuhn; and many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. She will be remembered for her enduring faith, boundless generosity, endless kindness and unstinting love for her family and friends. She is greatly loved, and she will be greatly missed.
