Jason Allen Jenkins, 40, of Neosho Rapids, Kansas, died December 4, 2010 from injuries he sustained in a boating accident while duck hunting at John Redmond Reservoir in Coffey County.

Jason Allen Jenkins was born on April 24, 1970 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Ronald & Sandra (Lyon) Jenkins. Jason married Shelley Yeager on June 14, 1997 at Neosho Rapids, Kansas.

Jason is survived by: his wife, Shelley (Yeager) Jenkins of the home; his grandmother, Lauretta Lyon of Emporia, Kansas; sons, Cody Barrett, Colton Barrett, and daughter, Brisha Jenkins, all of the home; brother, Luke Jenkins of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Tonya Eckman of Emporia, Kansas; one niece; ten nephews; honorary parents Jim and Janice George of Hartford, Kansas; and honorary daughter Brittney Hase of the home. The search continues for his son, Jeremy Jenkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Max & Ruth Jenkins; and grandfather, Red Lyon.

Jason attend Hartford High School, and graduated from Northern Heights High School. He was a self-employed floor covering contractor. He attended the Neosho Rapids United Methodist Church and was a member of the Flint Hills Truck Pullers Association. Jason was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Desert Storm.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Hartford High School, Hartford, KS, conducted by Rev. Jimmy McLendon of Lake Washington First Baptist Church, Glen Allan, MS, and Pastor Mark Henson of First Church of the Nazarene, Emporia. Cremation is planned following the service. Memorial contributions to the Jason Jenkins Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
