J.B. Miser, 69, of rural Emporia, Kansas, died on March 22, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
J.B. was born on July 3, 1942 in Strong City, Kansas, the son of John Hollenback and Ruth Atkins Hollenback. He was later adopted by Jesse Miser, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. J.B. married Lela Richard on July 29, 1962 at Emporia. They later divorced.
Surviving family members include: mother, Ruth Miser of Edmund, Oklahoma;
Sons, Jesse E. Miser and wife Laura of Emporia, Jason A. Miser of Colby, Kansas, and Justin R. Miser of Emporia; daughters, Lisa Miser and husband Ted Perkins of Proctor, Vermont, Dr. Lori Miser and husband Jim Hampton of Shelbyville, Illinois, and Leah Forst and husband Paul of Frankfort, Kansas; grandchildren, Jocie Miser of Emporia, Sarah Miser of Modesto, California, Macayla Miser of Emmett, Kansas, Macey Miser of Colby, Kansas, and Sawyer Perkins of Proctor, Vermont; and a sister, Dawn Enderwood of Edmund, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his fathers, John Hollenback and Jesse Miser.
For many years, J.B. was in the trucking industry as well as a farmer. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion, Emporia. J.B. was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
It was J.B’s wish to be cremated with a private family service. Memorial contributions to H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
